Welcome to version 3.0 of the RNA CoSSmos database. This version replaces two earlier versions, the first of
which was found at http://cossmos.slu.edu.
Feel free to explore and send feedback via the Contact link found in the upper right of every page.
We believe that all debugging lines have been removed from the new version of CoSSMos; if you see strange text that looks like it does not belong on a page,
please send the url to the authors using the Contact link and we will take a look.
There are two major changes to the content of the database: (1) All motifs contain two closing base pairs, and (2) all closing base pair interactions are found using x3DNA-DSSR. We are working to expand the RNA CoSSmos database to larger motifs (e.g. symmetric loops > 5, hairpins > 7, bulges > 5, etc.); we expect the expanded motifs to become available in early 2025.
Welcome to the Znosko Lab RNA Characterization of Secondary Structure Motifs (RNA CoSSMos) database! This tool allows the systematic searching of all catalogued three-dimensional nucleic acid PDB structures that contain secondary structure motifs such as mismatches, (a)symmetric internal loops, hairpin loops, and bulge loops.
To utilize the search function of the database, please select "Search" at the top menu.
If you have any questions, please check out our FAQ's or e-mail us via the Contact Us page. Also, please consider registering with the CoSSMos database if this is your first visit.
This site functions best at resolutions of at least 1440x900. It has been developed using Chrome (v71 and beyond), which is the recommended browser for this site. We have done some testing with newer versions (2018 and beyond) of Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari.
